We recently found the work of Blue Mountains maker Brianna Peterson and were enchanted by her organic, simple styles, especially her Bluebird Brooch. This being an issue about love, we thought it would be sweet to produce a series of exclusive-to-SOHI coded brooches. Brianna took a very SOHI approach to the design, adding rings around the hearts.
“The circles have an organic quality to them and remind me much of tree rings,” Brianna explains. “I love the idea that love can grow in time and go through its many rings of growth.”
The four styles symbolise different types of love. Wear red if you’re one of the lucky few of us who are still 'honeymooning' with our partners. Pink shows a more gentle love - the kind you grow old with. Purple is for those of us who need to be brave and have courage to keep our love alive and green is for delicious envy in love or in friendship: the ultimate in admiration.
